Rafael is Senior Vice President and Global Head of Risk for Political Risk, Credit and Bond insurance. He has worked as a risk manager since 2006, previously at Exporters Insurance Company and QBE before he joined the AXA XL Specialty team in 2011. Rafael manages a team of six risk analysts and is a member of the AXA Enterprise Credit and Country Risk Committees as well as the Emerging Risk Task Force.
Before entering the insurance world, Rafael worked at MasterCard International starting in 2001, holding various positions in strategic planning and operations and risk consulting for MasterCard Advisors. He also held analyst and research positions at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris.
Rafael holds a Master of Arts degree in law and diplomacy from Tufts University and a Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering from the American University in Paris.
