AXA XL appoints Julia Gutiérrez as Underwriting Manager, Construction for Iberia

Madrid - September 22, 2026

AXA XL today announced the appointment of Julia Gutiérrez as Underwriting Manager, Construction for Spain and Portugal.

In this role, Ms. Gutiérrez will be responsible for developing and implementing the underwriting strategy for AXA XL’s construction insurance business, in Iberia, as well as Latin America through AXA XL’s Madrid Hub. Iván Blanco, Underwriter Manager, Property, Construction & Energy at AXA XL, commented: “Spain’s demand for lower-carbon and more digitally enabled infrastructure is growing. SEOPAN estimates that the country will require infrastructure investment of more than €407 billion over the next decade, bringing larger, more complex projects and greater exposure to cost escalation, supply-chain disruption and delays.

He added: “Our tailored underwriting and risk engineering help clients manage these risks throughout the project lifecycle. Julia’s expertise will strengthen this approach and our support for clients in Iberia and Latin America.”

Ms. Gutiérrez brings over 10 years of experience in the construction insurance sector, having held underwriting roles at Starr Insurance, AXA, and AIG. She holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Granada.”
