David Watson

My focus is on making sure that the teams I work with stay solution-oriented and ready to meet the diverse and evolving needs of brokers and clients in established and emerging markets.

I'm currently the Chief Executive, Europe, Middle East and Africa and International Casualty. Before that, I was International Group Leader of AXA XL’s Reinsurance Operations and Chief Executive Officer of XL Re Europe SE. I previously served also as the General Manager for our Reinsurance operations in London.

I joined NAC Re in 1993, where I was Executive Director and Chief Casualty Underwriter. My professional career started with the Norwich Union Insurance Company, where I underwrote facultative casualty business from various parts of the world. I later moved to reinsurance with Victory Reinsurance and NW Reinsurance.
I'm a former Director of the International Underwriting Association in London and past Chairman of its Technical Underwriting Executive Committee. I've also represented the International Underwriting Association in various casualty discussions with government and industry associations and trade bodies.
I'm an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute in the UK.
