The Australian food, beverage and grocery manufacturing industry is set for growth and to support it XL Group has increased its product recall insurance capabilities with the appointment of Ian Davidson as Crisis Management Underwriter.

Mr. Davidson joins XL Group from Aon Risk Solutions, Sydney where he held the position of Placement Director, Crisis Management from 2008.  At XL Group he will be leading the insurer’s Product Recall business in Asia Pacific. Additionally he will be developing the company’s Crisis Management offering which includes Political Violence and Kidnap & Ransom for the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Craig Langham, Regional Manager, Asia Pacific, XL Group, said: “We have geared our Product Recall insurance coverage and crisis response to meet the increasing operational, regulatory and reputational risks faced by the food, beverage and grocery manufacturing industry.

“Today the industry is Australia’s largest manufacturing sector contributing almost four per cent to GDP.  And further growth is expected according to Grant Thornton’s Global Food and Beverage Study. Australia’s geographical location positions it well for exporting to Southeast Asia and China. Plus with the majority of executives working in the food and beverage industry expecting increases in revenues in the next 12 months, we anticipate increased demand for this insurance coverage.”

Langham added: “With over 20 year’s insurance industry experience, Ian has the caliber and expertise to help companies understand the risks they face and deliver insurance solutions to protect their long term business and profitability.”
