XL Group has announced it has appointed Lee Meyrick as Chief Underwriting Officer, Global Marine and Offshore Energy.

Commenting on the appointment Neil Robertson, Chief Executive, Specialty Insurance, XL Group said: “Lee’s proven track record in international roles, combined with his background in underwriting and business line management, positions him well to lead our global Marine and Offshore Energy business.

“Lee will play a critical role in continuing to drive our market presence in a range of mature and emerging markets. His responsibilities will focus on delivering on our strategic aspirations and in doing so he will be working with a strong group of talented individuals across the XL Group.”

Mr. Meyrick joins from Zurich Insurance Group, where he held the position of Global Head of Marine and Chief Underwriting Officer from 2011. Prior, he was Global Marine Practice Leader at Zurich (2009-2010).  He started his insurance career at AIG, where he worked for 16 years in various marine roles before being appointment Senior Vice President, Global Product Line Officer, Global Marine & Energy in 2006.

Mr. Meyrick joins XL Group on April 29, 2013, reporting to Neil Robertson and will be based in London, UK.
