XL Group appoints Daniel O’Connell to write War, Terrorism and Political Violence

XL Group today announced that it has appointed Daniel O’Connell to write War, Terrorism and Political Violence in its new Crisis Management team.Neil Robertson, Chief Executive Global Specialty, XL Group said: “This is a significant appointment for XL Group. Daniel, in his new role, will be providing solutions that respond to these fast changing and evolving risks.”XL Group’s Crisis Management team offers Product Recall and War, Terrorism and Political Violence cover, and it is the Group’s intention to develop Kidnap & Ransom and Personal Accident products for corporate clients. These products will be available globally and will be written out of three hubs: London, Singapore and New York.Daniel has a military background reaching the rank of Captain in the British Army and has served in Germany, Iraq and Northern Ireland.He joins XL Group from Hiscox where he worked underwriting War, Terrorism and Political Violence from 2011. Prior to this, he had various roles at Willis Limited, Global Markets International, including: Terrorism Team Leader (Divisional Director, Executive Director) and Accident and Health Team Leader (Executive Director).
