ProHost USA and XL Group Expand Insurance Offering to Restaurant Industry with Umbrella Excess Coverage
BOSTON, Massachusetts and MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota - February 03, 2015
XL Group and insurance program administrator ProHost USA are making an extra layer of insurance protection available to fine dining and casual restaurants, adding umbrella excess insurance coverage to its product offering. “Restaurants can face some significant risks and claims,” according to Heidi Strommen, President of ProHost USA. “Costly liquor liability, food allergy and many other claims can deplete a restaurant’s primary insurance coverage quickly. Having an additional layer of excess insurance protection can be critical to a restaurant’s survival.” “XL Group has built a reputation on helping some of the world’s largest companies protect themselves from severe financial losses with excess insurance,” said Chris Bressette, Business Unit Head of XL Group’s North America Programs unit. “ProHost clients can now enjoy the same umbrella protection these companies have come to rely on, supported by ProHost’s 25 years of experience serving restaurants’ risk management needs. It’s a very strong combination.” According to Ms. Strommen, “We’ve continued to expand our coverage to give our clients more options. In this case, they can purchase an additional layer of protection from their primary insurance carrier which for many, in the event of a claim, leads to fewer coordination hassles and conflicts.” Through the XL Group insurance companies, ProHost provides restaurants, ranging from fine dining to casual dining, with insurance packages which include primary coverages such as general liability, property, equipment breakdown, and liquor liability. When primary liability insurance limits are exhausted, excess insurance coverage provides additional limits to address outstanding claims. Excess limits are offered up to $5 million, with additional limits available on a risk-by-risk basis.
