Robert Andrews Joins XL Insurance As Head of Global Ceded Reinsurance

 — EXTON, Penn., October 16, 2006 -- David Duclos, Chief Operating Officer for XL Capital Ltd's (”XL”) global insurance operations ("XL Insurance"), today announced the appointment of Robert Andrews as head of its global ceded reinsurance operations.
Mr. Andrews will oversee XL Insurance’s global ceded reinsurance operations and the placement of its reinsurance treaties. Reporting to Mr. Duclos, he will be based in XL’s Hartford, Connecticut office.
Commenting on Mr. Andrews’ appointment, Mr. Duclos said: “As a 30-year insurance industry veteran, Rob brings a wealth of experience to XL Insurance. His commitment, his knowledge and the relationships that he has built with the reinsurance industry are a welcome addition to our risk management team.”
“Rob will work closely with XL Insurance’s Chief Risk Officer and global product line leaders to assure the efficient placement of our reinsurance treaties,” Mr. Duclos added.
Mr. Andrews joins XL Insurance from the Liberty Mutual Insurance Group in Boston where he served in various roles, most recently as vice president and manager of ceded reinsurance. He holds a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation.
